Cindy Lee- Diamond Jubilee
The first album in a long time to truly leave me without words. There’s no amount of writerly words, no clever metaphors to cobble up from this future classic. It bridges the gap between classic rock and doowop standards, the guitars and how it fries in the mix lend a sandy, deserted feel. But it’s still a magical experience, the ghostly vocals saunter and glow in the mix, like dusty light fixtures in an old mansion. It risks toeing over the thin line of nostalgia and firmly roots itself in the present.
